Armateurs de France presented the Charte Bleue 2025 Trophy to Neoline during the Assises de l’Économie de la Mer for its vessel Neoliner Origin, the first industrial-scale sail cargo ship, to be delivered in September 2025.
The jury, chaired by Bruno Nicolas, President of Expédition 7e Continent and 2024 award winner, unanimously praised Neoline’s coherent and virtuous approach.
“Neoliner Origin illustrates the maritime industry’s ability to combine decarbonization, efficiency, social responsibility, and the large-scale implementation of sail propulsion.”
Designed and operated by sailors, Neoliner Origin features:
- A primary wind propulsion system, complemented by a hybrid diesel-electric engine,
- An 80 to 90% reduction in GHG emissions compared to a conventional vessel of the same size, with a commercial speed of 11 knots,
- A ro-ro transport capacity of 1,200 linear meters, equivalent to 400 cars or 265 twenty-foot containers, as well as 12 passenger berths (marketed via Sailcoop),
- A strong involvement of the French industrial network in the production of rigging and sailmaking equipment.
This trophy rewards a collective vision: that of a maritime transport system respectful of the oceans, people, and local communities.
