A new regular transatlantic route

The transatlantic route operated by Neoline is a first-of-its-kind, offering new capacities in terms of freight (rolling and non-standard freights) and destination.

With a monthly frequency and a commercial speed of 11 knots, this service offers the following transit times*:

Montoir ⇄ Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon: 11 days westbound / 14 days eastbound
Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon ⇄ Baltimore: 5 days westbound / 6 days eastbound
Baltimore → Halifax**: 4 days
Halifax → Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon: 2 days
Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon ⇄ Zeebrugge: 9 days eastbound / 23 days westbound
Zeebrugge → Montoir: 3 days (one way)

Neoliner Origin

An innovative pilot ship

Thanks to the close collaboration between Neoline and its technical partners, Neoliner Origin is a “ro-ro” (roll on – roll off) sailing cargo ship that harnesses the wind as its main source of propulsion, complemented by an auxiliary diesel-electric system.

This flexible and secure horizontal loading method allows for the rapid handling of a wide variety of freight, from refrigerated containers to oversized cargo, while fully meeting international shipping standards.

Equipped with two Solidsail masts (designed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique) and anti-drift plans (developed by Fouré Lagadec), Neoliner Origin is purpose-built to sail primarily under wind power while maintaining reliable transit times. Both rigs can be folded down, enabling access to most ports with ease.

Thanks to its carefully optimized design, and operating on its North Atlantic route, the vessel aims to reduce fuel consumption by over 80% compared with a conventional ship sailing at 15 kts.

This 360° video was filmed at the end of construction at the RMK Marine shipyard, shortly before delivery. It shows the vessel as it was at that time. It is now fully completed and cleaned.

Rolling, Container, Oversize.

100% secured loading in hold and garage

Equipped with a 12m-wide loading ramp, Neoliner Origin can handle a wide range of parcel sizes and packaging in 3 loading areas (a 2100m² main garage, a 500m² tween deck, and 950m² lower garage), all fully protected and weatherproofed.

Its transport capacities are optimized to load both light freight (cars, big bags, pallets…) and oversized parcels, up to 9.8m high and 200 tons, without the need for lifting.

Thanks to its optimized size, its rear ramp allowing the loading of heavy, rolling and non-standard freights, and the layout of its garages, Neoliner Origin can load a very wide variety of freights addressing the current logistics standards.

Innovative propulsion, adaptive energy management with auxiliary diesel-electric propulsion, weather routing: our ships can commit to their commercial speed.

Environmentally-friendly transport

In support of our shippers' CSR strategies, the NEOLINE transport solution reduces GHG emissions by up to 80% on an ocean transatlantic (compared to an equivalent conventional ship), and eliminates SOx and NOx.

Neoline has built its commercial strategy to provide real logistical and ecological added value, while remaining economically viable. This offer has convinced major French industrial groups (such as Bénéteau, Renault group, Hennessy, Manitou, Clarins, Remy Cointreau, La Fournée Dorée). Their upstream support was decisive in financing the project.

These pioneering shippers have committed to a cleaner shipping with Neoline, some as early as 2018, as part of an ambitious corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
